  • Puedes escribirnos a hi@betazeta.dev.

1. Aceptación y documentos aplicables

  • el Aviso legal, que contiene los datos identificativos del prestador;
  • la Política de privacidad, que explica cómo tratamos los datos personales;

  • enviar, recibir o poner a disposición material de abuso sexual infantil o cualquier contenido que sexualice a menores;
  • contenido que constituya, promueva o facilite terrorismo, violencia extrema o delitos;
  • distribuir malware, ransomware, programas espía, contenido de phishing o cualquier código diseñado para dañar sistemas o robar datos;
  • vulnerar derechos de propiedad intelectual o industrial, secretos empresariales o cualquier otro derecho de terceros;
  • acosar, amenazar, intimidar, difamar o discriminar a otras personas;
  • enviar datos personales de terceros sin una base legal que lo permita, o contenido obtenido de forma ilícita;
  • enviar comunicaciones no solicitadas masivas (spam) o enviar archivos a personas que no los han solicitado de forma abusiva;
  • eludir los límites del Servicio (tamaño, número de salas o conexiones, duración) o sus medidas de seguridad, incluida la creación de varias cuentas para ello;
  • automatizar la creación de salas, conexiones o solicitudes mediante bots, scripts u otros medios no previstos;
  • utilizar el relé TURN como proxy o túnel de propósito general o para tráfico ajeno al funcionamiento del Servicio;
  • descompilar, someter a ingeniería inversa o intentar obtener acceso no autorizado a la infraestructura, a los servidores, a las bases de datos o a los datos de otros usuarios;
  • realizar escaneos, pruebas de intrusión, ataques de denegación de servicio o cualquier acción que sobrecargue o degrade el Servicio;

8. Tu contenido y tu responsabilidad

8.1. No accedemos a tu contenido.

  • Alojamiento e infraestructura: OVH - Francia.

16.3. Usuarios no consumidores.

  1. tu nombre y tu dirección de correo electrónico (salvo en los casos, como los relativos a abuso sexual infantil, en que la ley permita la notificación anónima);
  2. una explicación suficientemente motivada de por qué consideras que el contenido o la actividad es ilícito o incumple estos Términos;
  3. la ubicación exacta: el enlace de la sala (o el código que contiene), la fecha y hora aproximadas, y cualquier otra información que permita localizar la actividad;

21.4. No renuncia. No ejercer un derecho o acción no supone renunciar a él.

21.5. Idioma.

Titular: BetaZetaDev, A Coruña, Galicia, España.

Plain-language summary

This summary is for guidance only; the sections below are what counts.

  • Filefae tries to send files directly between two devices. If a direct connection is not possible, it may use a temporary relay. Files are not stored on our servers.
  • You do not need an account to use it. Creating an account is optional and free, and raises the size limits.
  • You are responsible for what you send and for who you share the link with. We cannot see or moderate the content of your files, but using Filefae for unlawful or abusive purposes is prohibited.
  • The service is provided “as is”, free of charge, with no guarantee that it will work on every network. Our liability is limited to the extent the law allows, without affecting your rights as a consumer.
  • You can stop using Filefae whenever you want. If we detect abusive use, we may close rooms, block access or suspend accounts.
  • You can write to us at hi@betazeta.dev.

1. Acceptance and applicable documents

1.1. These Terms and Conditions of Use (the “Terms”) govern access to and use of Filefae, available at filefae.betazeta.dev (the “Service”). By accessing the Service, creating or joining a room, sending or receiving files or creating an account, you declare that you have read these Terms and that you accept them.

1.2. The following form part of the relationship between you and the owner of the Service, in addition to these Terms:

  • the Legal Notice, which contains the provider’s identification details;
  • the Privacy Policy, which explains how we process personal data;
  • the Cookie Policy, which describes the cookies and local storage we use and how to manage them; and
  • any additional conditions presented to you, where applicable, for specific features or plans, which will prevail over these Terms as regards that feature or plan.

1.3. If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the Service.

1.4. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you declare that you have authority to bind it to these Terms.

2. Who we are and definitions

2.1. The Service is provided by BetaZetaDev, with its address at A Coruña, Galicia, España (the “Owner”, “we”). Registry details: —. Contact: hi@betazeta.dev. Filefae was created by bzd (betazeta.dev).

2.2. For the purposes of these Terms:

  • User (“you”): any person who accesses or uses the Service, with or without an account.
  • Guest: a user who uses the Service without having signed in.
  • Room: a temporary space, identified by a secret link or QR code, in which two devices coordinate to connect to each other.
  • Device: a browser (browser profile) from which the Service is used.
  • Content: the files, file names and any other information you send or receive through the Service.
  • Consumer: a natural person acting for purposes outside their trade, business, craft or profession, as defined by the applicable consumer legislation.

3. Description of the service

3.1. Direct transfer. Filefae lets you send files between two browsers using WebRTC, without installing applications. One person creates a room and shares the link or QR code; the other opens it and both devices establish a direct connection.

3.2. What our infrastructure does. Our servers are limited to: (a) signalling, that is, exchanging the technical messages needed for the two devices to find each other and negotiate the connection; (b) presence, only for signed-in users, to show which of their own devices are online; (c) a STUN server; and (d) an optional TURN relay server, operated by us, which is used only when a direct connection is not possible.

3.3. Files are not deliberately stored on the server. They travel encrypted (DTLS, part of WebRTC) between the two devices and, when the TURN relay is used, encrypted packets may temporarily pass through our infrastructure. We cannot read the content of your files.

3.4. Temporary rooms. Rooms exist only in the server’s memory, admit a maximum of two participants and are not persisted. An empty room expires after a period of time (by default, 30 minutes). The link or QR code contains a randomly generated secret identifier of 192 bits.

3.5. Acceptance by the recipient. The recipient decides whether to accept each file or each batch of files before receiving it, and may reject it. Received files are kept temporarily in the recipient’s own browser, until the recipient saves them, deletes them or closes the tab.

3.6. Multiple files. You can send several files at once (up to 100 per batch). They are sent one after another and the recipient confirms the whole batch only once.

3.7. Quick connect. Users with an account can register their devices and request a connection between their own devices without sharing a link. The other device must accept the request, and accepting it is not the same as accepting files.

3.8. Optional accounts. Signing in is optional. Accounts are managed through an external identity provider (see section 13).

3.9. We may add, modify or withdraw features of the Service in accordance with section 14.

4. Requirements for use and age

4.1. You must be at least 14 years old to use the Service. If you are between 14 and 18 years old, you declare that you have the authorisation required by the law that applies to you and that you understand these Terms. If you are under 14, you may not use the Service or create an account.

4.2. You need a modern browser with WebRTC and local storage support, and an internet connection. On restricted networks (corporate firewalls, VPNs, strict NATs, guest networks) a connection may not be possible.

4.3. You are responsible for complying with the rules that apply to you in the place from which you use the Service (for example, export restrictions or workplace or school rules on the use of file-transfer services).

5. Accounts

5.1. Optional. You can create rooms and send and receive files without an account. A free account raises the size limits and enables features such as known devices and quick connect.

5.2. Registration. To create an account you must provide truthful and up-to-date information through our identity provider (email address or an account with a social provider). You must keep your details up to date.

5.3. Account security. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for the activity carried out from your account and registered devices. Let us know without delay at hi@betazeta.dev if you suspect unauthorised use. You can revoke your devices from your profile.

5.4. One account per person. Your account is personal. You must not transfer, sell or share it, nor create accounts to evade limits, suspensions or blocks.

5.5. Closing your account. You can stop using your account whenever you want and request its deletion through the options in your profile or by writing to us. How your data is handled when you close your account is described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Usage limits

6.1. Per-file limits. The Service applies a size limit per file. As at the date of these Terms, by default it is 512 MiB for guests and 2 GiB for users with a free account. These values may change; the application shows the limits currently in force at any given time, and those are the ones that apply. There may also be other technical limits, such as the maximum number of files per batch (100), the number of connections or rooms per IP address and the lifetime of empty rooms.

6.2. Free of charge. The Service is free. We will not charge you anything without your express acceptance.

6.3. Changes to limits. We may change the free limits for technical, security, abuse-prevention or service-sustainability reasons, with the notice provided in section 20 when the change is material and adverse to you.

7. Acceptable use

7.1. You undertake to use the Service in good faith, in accordance with the law, these Terms and the rights of third parties. In particular, it is prohibited to use the Service to:

  • send, receive or make available child sexual abuse material or any content that sexualises minors;
  • share content that constitutes, promotes or facilitates terrorism, extreme violence or crime;
  • distribute malware, ransomware, spyware, phishing content or any code designed to damage systems or steal data;
  • infringe intellectual or industrial property rights, trade secrets or any other third-party rights;
  • harass, threaten, intimidate, defame or discriminate against other people;
  • send third parties’ personal data without a legal basis permitting it, or content obtained unlawfully;
  • send unsolicited bulk communications (spam) or abusively send files to people who have not asked for them;
  • circumvent the Service’s limits (size, number of rooms or connections, duration) or its security measures, including by creating several accounts to do so;
  • automate the creation of rooms, connections or requests using bots, scripts or other means not provided for;
  • use the TURN relay as a general-purpose proxy or tunnel or for traffic unrelated to the operation of the Service;
  • decompile, reverse engineer or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the infrastructure, servers, databases or other users’ data;
  • carry out scans, penetration tests, denial-of-service attacks or any action that overloads or degrades the Service;
  • impersonate another person or entity or mislead others about your identity or the origin of a file.

7.2. Exceptions for security research apply only if you have notified us beforehand and we have authorised the activity in writing. If you find a vulnerability, write to us at hi@betazeta.dev and avoid accessing other people’s data.

7.3. Consequences. If you breach this section, we may, depending on the seriousness and without prejudice to other legal actions: close rooms, restrict or block access by IP address, device or account, suspend or close your account and cooperate with the competent authorities where the law requires us to. Where reasonable and where it does not compromise security, we will inform you of the measure and the reasons for it.

8. Your content and your responsibility

8.1. We do not access your content. Because of the Service’s architecture (direct, encrypted transfer between devices), we do not see, store, analyse or moderate the content of the files you send or receive. For that reason we carry out no prior or general monitoring of content.

8.2. You are responsible. You are solely responsible for the content you send, for having the rights and permissions needed to share it and for ensuring that sending it complies with the law and these Terms. You are also responsible for whom you give access to your room and for the files you accept to receive.

8.3. No licence over your content. We acquire no rights over your content. We do not copy it, use it or assign it, since it is not stored on our servers.

8.4. Third parties’ personal data. If you send files containing other people’s personal data, you are responsible for having a legal basis to do so and for complying with the obligations that apply to you. Filefae does not act as your processor with regard to the content, because it does not access it.

8.5. Technical data. We do process certain technical data needed to provide the Service (for example, the room identifier, the IP address or the device name); these are described in the Privacy Policy. Please note that, because the connection is direct, the other participant may learn your IP address and certain technical details of your device, except where the connection goes through the relay.

9. Security and good practices

9.1. We apply reasonable technical security measures (for example, encryption of the connection to the application, random 192-bit room identifiers, server-side verification of sessions, usage limits), but no system is infallible. We recommend that you:

  • Treat the link as a secret. Anyone with the link or QR code can join the room while it is open. Share it only with people you trust and through a suitable channel.
  • Check who you are connecting with. Review the name of the device at the other end before sending or accepting files, and do not accept files you were not expecting.
  • Check what you receive. Scan received files with antivirus software, especially executables, documents with macros and compressed archives. You can reject any file or batch.
  • Close the room when you finish sharing.
  • Keep backups. Filefae is not a storage or backup service: files are not kept in it and may be lost if the connection is interrupted or the tab is closed before you save them.
  • Use HTTPS. Access over HTTP is acceptable only on trusted local networks for testing; on the internet you must always use HTTPS connections.

9.2. If you suspect a security incident affecting the Service, write to us at hi@betazeta.dev.

10. Privacy and cookies

10.1. We process personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Organic Law 3/2018. The Privacy Policy explains what data we process, for what purpose and on what legal basis, with which recipients, for how long and how to exercise your rights.

10.2. The Cookie Policy describes the cookies and similar technologies we use. Usage analytics is only activated if you accept it, and you can change your decision at any time from the “Analytics preferences” link in the page footer.

11. Intellectual property and licence

11.1. Our rights. The name and trademark “Filefae”, the design, texts, illustrations, icons, visual identity and the service hosted at filefae.betazeta.dev belong to the Owner or its licensors and are protected by intellectual and industrial property legislation.

11.2. Source code. Filefae’s source code is the property of the Owner and is not offered under an open-source licence. Filefae’s name, trademark, design, texts and illustrations are protected independently of the code and are not transferred by any authorised use of it. Any use of the code or of the Service’s elements not expressly authorised in writing by the Owner is prohibited.

11.3. Licence to use. We grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to access and use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

11.4. Third-party rights. If you believe any element of the Service infringes your rights, let us know in accordance with section 19.

12. Feedback and suggestions

12.1. If you send us comments, ideas or suggestions about the Service, you grant us, free of charge, a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable and non-exclusive licence to use and exploit them with no obligation of compensation or attribution, without prejudice to the rights that cannot be assigned under the law (for example, moral rights) and to the protection of your personal data.

12.2. You must not send us confidential information or third parties’ personal data through these channels.

13. Third-party services

13.1. The Service integrates or relies on third-party services, which are subject to their own terms and privacy policies:

  • Clerk (identity and authentication): manages registration and sign-in with email or with social-provider accounts and issues sessions. If you decide to create an account, you also accept the terms of the identity provider you use. To protect forms against abuse, it may use anti-bot verification services.
  • Google Analytics 4 (usage analytics): only activated if you accept it, and described in the Cookie Policy.
  • Hosting and infrastructure: OVH - Francia.

13.2. We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their services, beyond what the law provides. Links to third-party sites are offered for convenience.

14. Availability and changes to the service

14.1. We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may interrupt it temporarily for maintenance, updates, force majeure or security incidents.

14.2. Whether a transfer works also depends on factors beyond our control: your network, firewalls, VPNs, NAT types, the browser, the storage available on the receiving device and the other participant’s connection. The TURN relay improves the chances of connecting but does not guarantee them.

14.3. We may modify, suspend or withdraw features of the Service, including permanently. Where a withdrawal is significant and affects users with an account, we will give reasonable advance notice whenever possible.

15. Disclaimer of warranties

15.1. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including those of availability, continuity, fitness for a particular purpose, absence of errors or viruses, accuracy or the result of each transfer.

15.2. We do not guarantee the identity of the people you connect with, nor the integrity or harmlessness of the files you receive.

15.3. Nothing in the foregoing limits the warranties and rights that the law grants to consumers and that cannot be excluded by contract.

16. Limitation of liability

16.1. Exceptions. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability in cases where the law does not permit it, including wilful misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury (death or bodily harm), liability for defective products or services where mandatory law applies, or the non-waivable rights of consumers.

16.2. Scope. To the extent not covered by paragraph 16.1 and to the extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for: (a) indirect damages, loss of profit, loss of opportunities, business, goodwill or data; (b) damages arising from content sent or received, from the conduct of other users or from unlawful use of the Service; (c) failures, interruptions or outages of third-party networks or services; (d) loss of files due to connection interruptions, closing of the tab, lack of storage space or any other cause beyond our control; or (e) damages caused by malware contained in received files.

16.3. Non-consumer users. If you use the Service for professional or business purposes, our total liability to you for all claims arising from the Service will not exceed, in aggregate, the greater of: the amount you have paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or 100 euros.

16.4. Since the Service is free in its basic form, the above limitations reflect a reasonable allocation of risk.

17. Indemnification

17.1. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to hold us harmless from claims, damages, expenses and penalties (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your unlawful use of the Service, the content you have sent or your breach of these Terms.

17.2. This clause will not apply to the extent that it affects the rights that the law grants to consumers or in cases where the damage is due to our wilful misconduct or gross negligence.

18. Suspension and termination

18.1. By you. You can stop using the Service at any time. If you have an account, you can request its closure in accordance with section 5.5.

18.2. By us. We may suspend or restrict your access, close rooms or close your account, temporarily or permanently, where: (a) you breach these Terms, especially section 7; (b) it is necessary to protect the security, integrity or availability of the Service or the rights of third parties; (c) required by law, or by a court or administrative decision; or (d) the account has been inactive for a prolonged period, with reasonable prior notice where possible.

18.3. Where reasonable and legally possible, we will tell you the measure taken and the reasons for it, and you may respond by writing to hi@betazeta.dev. We will review your response within a reasonable time.

18.4. When your access ends, the licences granted will cease to apply, but the clauses that by their nature should survive (for example, intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification and governing law) will remain in force.

19. Notice of illegal content and complaints

19.1. Point of contact. To the extent that Filefae qualifies as an intermediary service under Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act), the single point of contact for Member States’ authorities, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services to communicate with us directly, and also for recipients of the service, is hi@betazeta.dev. You can communicate with us in Spanish or English.

19.2. How to notify us. If you believe Filefae is being used to spread illegal content or to breach these Terms, write to us at hi@betazeta.dev with the following information:

  1. your name and email address (except in cases, such as those concerning child sexual abuse, where the law allows anonymous notification);
  2. a sufficiently substantiated explanation of why you consider the content or activity to be illegal or in breach of these Terms;
  3. the exact location: the room link (or the code it contains), the approximate date and time, and any other information that makes it possible to locate the activity;
  4. if it concerns an infringement of intellectual or industrial property rights, the identification of the right, of its holder and of your standing to act; and
  5. a statement that you are acting in good faith and that the information provided is accurate and complete.

19.3. What we do. We will acknowledge receipt of your notice without undue delay, assess it diligently and objectively and let you know our reasoned decision, together with the available means of redress.

19.4. Technical limitation. Because files do not pass through our servers in clear form and are not stored on them, we cannot access, remove or delete the content from users’ devices. Our measures are limited to closing rooms, blocking access (by IP address, device or account), suspending accounts and, where the law so requires, retaining and providing to the authorities the technical data we hold, which is limited.

19.5. Cooperation with authorities. We will respond to valid requests from competent judicial and administrative authorities in accordance with the applicable law and, where appropriate, we will inform the authorities of indications of serious crimes that come to our knowledge.

19.6. User complaints. If you disagree with a measure we have taken regarding your access or your account, or you want to lodge a complaint about the Service, write to us at hi@betazeta.dev. Without prejudice to your right to go to court, if you are a consumer you may use the alternative consumer dispute resolution systems that apply under Spanish and European legislation. As at the date of these Terms, we have not adhered to any specific alternative dispute resolution body; we will let you know if this changes. To our knowledge, the European online dispute resolution (ODR) platform is no longer operational.

20. Changes to the terms

20.1. We may amend these Terms, for example because of legal or technical changes or changes to the Service itself. The current version will always be available on this page, with its effective date.

20.2. If the change is material (it significantly affects your rights or obligations), we will notify you at least 30 days in advance by a prominent notice on the website or in the application or, if you have an account, by email. Changes that are favourable to you, that reflect legal obligations or that are needed to address an abuse or a security risk immediately may apply immediately.

20.3. If you do not accept the new Terms, you must stop using the Service and, if you have an account, you may close it before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new Terms.

21. General provisions

21.1. Assignment. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior consent. We may assign them to a successor to the ownership of the Service, with notice where the law requires it.

21.2. Severability. If any clause is declared void or unenforceable, the rest will remain in force and the affected clause will be replaced, as far as possible, by a valid one with equivalent effect.

21.3. Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the documents listed in section 1, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreement on the same subject matter.

21.4. No waiver. Failure to exercise a right or action does not amount to a waiver of it.

21.5. Language. These Terms are provided in Spanish and English. The Spanish version is the authentic one; in the event of any discrepancy between versions, the Spanish text prevails.

21.6. Communications. We may communicate with you through notices on the website or in the application or, if you have an account, by email. You may contact us at the address given in section 23.

22. Governing law and jurisdiction

22.1. These Terms are governed by Spanish law.

22.2. If you are a consumer, the courts of your place of residence will have jurisdiction, and the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live will remain applicable, if they are more favourable than those of Spanish law.

22.3. In all other cases, the parties submit to the courts of the city corresponding to the Owner’s address (A Coruña, Galicia, España), waiving any other jurisdiction that might correspond to them, unless the law mandatorily provides otherwise.

23. Contact

For any question about these Terms, for notices of illegal content and as the point of contact for authorities: hi@betazeta.dev. Owner: BetaZetaDev, A Coruña, Galicia, España.

Version in force since 2026-09-20.
